How a booming startup partnered with CFW to hire fast and hire well from a diverse slate of qualified senior-level candidates.
KUDO is a language-as-a-service platform disrupting the way companies and organizations across sectors, from Facebook and Citibank to the UN and NATO, conduct multilingual meetings. Through their network of vetted interpreters and streamlined conferencing platform, KUDO enables web meetings and live conferences with real-time multilingual language interpretation.
The Challenge
During COVID-19, with the global shift towards remote work and meetings, KUDO was pre- Series A, cash flow positive, and rapidly growing their team to match and capitalize on demand for their first-of-its-kind solution. Their recruiting team was stretched thin, and, after a few months trying to hire for a key role on their own, the Vice President of Marketing, they sought out a partner who could seamlessly function as an extension of their recruiting team, adding more manpower and industry expertise to their efforts.
“It was such a large role, we had tried to do it for about 2-3 months ourselves, and the sourcing wasn’t going great. And when we did find at least one good person, closing wasn’t great. So, we really needed expert help, because we realized we couldn’t do it on our own, especially on the fast timeline we were looking for. “- Sarah Lavorgna, Head of People Operations at KUDO
The Solution
KUDO retained CFW Careers who worked quickly to build a thorough understanding of the search from all angles, from the company product, culture, and goals to how the VP of Marketing fit into the mix. Having specialized in commercial roles within media and technology for decades, CFW had both the candidate network and the recruiting expertise to find, vet, select and present the the select few: a diverse slate of qualified candidates who possessed key expertise and enriched the makeup of their team.
“I’ve worked with other recruiters that are more focused on just giving you as many candidates as possible. I don’t have time to interview, you know, 20 people a week. So, the fact that CFW was a recruiting firm that was already super well-vetted, and we knew would do that work for us was a huge attraction” -Sarah Lavorgna, Head of People Operations at KUDO
The Results
CFW took on a lot of the heavy lifting vetting candidates at initial stages and remained engaged with their candidates throughout the recruiting process. KUDO was able to maximize their team’s productivity, ensuring their internal recruiting team had wiggle room to address additional searches, freeing up time on the calendars of team members involved in the interview process, minimizing candidate pipeline drop-off, and successfully bringing the new VP of Marketing on board to shape crucial processes and decisions pertinent to building out KUDO’s marketing strategy and team for 2021.
“...Really being able to bounce ideas off of someone, and really having someone I could trust and that listened went a long way. You also always did what you said you were going to do. So, if you said you were going to send over another candidate, I knew I was going to get another candidate that week. I never had to follow up or worry that the ball would be dropped...there was always a sense of urgency and a sense of trust, which I haven’t necessarily gotten with other firms. ” -Sarah Lavorgna, Head of People Operations at KUDO
